  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Who was it that asked Savitar if killing Iris will really be worth it: Killer Frost, or Caitlin?
  • Awesome Music: AURORA's "Murder Song" eerily fits the scene of Iris' death.
  • Fridge Horror: Lyla uses one of the containment cells to hold an invaluable power source; King Shark's cell, to be precise. Look closely, there's traces of blood around his jaw.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Abra Kadabra had previously claimed that Barry learning Savitar's true identity would allow him to beat Savitar and save Iris. Ultimately, Barry figured it out on his own successfully...yet in the end, it still didn't matter and Savitar won anyway.
  • He Really Can Act: While Grant Gustin's credibility was already proven numerous times in the past, his Acting for Two this episode got him even more praise, particularly him showing the desperation of The Hero and the complexity of the Big Bad.
  • Like You Would Really Do It:
    • Iris' death might be believable...if it actually aired during May 23rd, which isn't until next week. However, given that Henry Allen also died before the finale it might be a subversion...
    • Likewise with Barry actually leaving Snart to be eaten by King Shark, given that Barry recruits him before his actual death in the Season 1 finale of Legends of Tomorrow.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Barry's Skyward Scream being captioned with WHATAMIFIGHTINGFOOORRRR!?!?.
    • Many fans joke that the reason Julian is absent in this episode is because he's still sobbing after Caitlin told him last episode that she never loved him.
  • Moral Event Horizon: We already knew Savitar would cross it by killing Iris, but here that finally happens—especially since we now know it's essentially a version of Barry who did that.
  • Shocking Moments: Savitar actually kills Iris before the finale.
  • Spiritual Adaptation: At least regarding one scene. Specifically, the one where Barry is cradling Iris' corpse is compared by some fans to an eerily similar scene from Mega Man X4 where the red-clad hero holds his deceased Love Interest also named Iris. It does not help that both deaths involve Powered Armors, powerful stones, and a BFG.
  • Tear Jerker: The scene where Savitar kills Iris. Barry just cradling her in his arms just makes it more heart-wrenching.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: That moment where Savitar looks up while the Speed Force Bazooka and Savitar's own speed energy combine looks totally badass.
