• Moment of Awesome: Tammy Faye showing genuine compassion, acceptance, and understanding to Steve Pieters, a gay minister with AIDS during an interview on the PTL club. What makes it even more awesome is that there was no artistic license used, the scene was a direct recreation of the actual interview with the dialogue being repeated word for word. This was the 1980s at the height of the AIDS epidemic when a large portion of society, even the most liberal, were shunning and/or avoiding people with AIDS and even the entire gay community. Tammy’s “Jesus loves everyone, without exception” attitude and acceptance to the LGBT community has largely made her Vindicated by History in real life.
