  • Base-Breaking Character: Opinion is split on whether Tan Er is a tragic and sympathetic character or an annoying Extreme Doormat.
  • Friendly Fandoms: With Cinderella Chef, another historical comedy involving Mental Time Travel.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Xing Zhao Lin (Lian Cheng) and Hu Chun Yong (Yu Hao) were both in Princess Agents, as Yue Qi and General Cheng respectively. Amusingly, General Cheng killed Yue Qi while Yu Hao is Lian Cheng's bodyguard.
  • Narm:
    • Madam Da commits suicide by... hitting her head against a pillar. Logically she should have gotten nothing more than a headache, but nope, she drops dead on the spot. (A common trope in Chinese dramas, but very poorly done here, what with taking about five steps and gently bonking against the pillar without even a good run-up.)
    • In the last few episodes Xiao Tan and Lian Cheng are abruptly teleported away to another continent, and the plot just gets weirder from then on. Not only is it impossible to take seriously, it's impossible to understand.
  • The Woobie: Tan Er falls in love with Yi Huai, but he marries her half-sister and then she's ordered to marry his brother. She attempts suicide to escape but she survives, is forced to marry Lian Cheng anyway, and gradually realises there's someone else sharing her body who makes Tan Er look crazy when she takes control. In the end Yi Huai kills her.
  • WTH, Costuming Department?: Some of the costumes are too colourful, too weird, or just plain ugly. Take Jing Xuan's costume (right) (yes, he really does have yellow pompoms on his shoulders) and Jing Xin's costume that looks like two different outfits (right) for example. Then of course there's the emperor's glittery hat.
