  • Difficulty Spike: HMP Irongate is designed to be this. Crucial contraband detectors, cameras and heavily-armed guards are everywhere, and the prison's pretty small, so said cameras and guards are pretty tightly-packed. There's also significantly less free time, meaning inmates will have less time to plan for their escapes during the day.
  • Funny Moments:
    • A lot of what the guards and inmates can say results in some very humorous things, thanks to the the randomly generated phrases in the dialog.
      Prison Guard: As my dear old nan used to say... You are all filth.
    • One quest option is "I'm pretty sure Officer X fancies me. Go break his face."
    • One of the randomly generated names can be "Tasty".
      Inmate: That Tasty's had his crew on the outside harass my family. I need him laid on the floor. You up for it?
    • In the same vein, due to the randomly generated nature of favors, especially on the The Escape Team DLC,when there are only 3 inmates other than yourself, an inmate can hire you to beat them up. IE, "Face: Face has been trying to muscle me out of my group. I need you to lay a beating on him."
  • Nightmare Fuel: The music that plays when the prison goes on lockdown. The screeching noises and lack of many other instruments serve well to send chills down the spine of anyone, especially the poor sap who triggered it. Try out for yourself here
  • Paranoia Fuel: There are moments where you may worry that a guard will find a hole in the ground or a missing vent while you are away. To not worry that a guard will check your cell, check if your name is mentioned in the role call, put bed sheets over the bars (but watch out for guards with an opinion below 30 on you), and you may want to put a bed dummy on your bed, though you can't sleep on it when the dummy is there.
