Alternative Character Interpretation: Gooey is a far cry from the lovable blob from the games. In fact, Kirby never sees him (for the majority of the story, at least), as he communicates via cell phone, so we don't really know what he even looks like in this story. It's highly implied that he is reclusive. It is later revealed that he really is a blue blob, but his personality is very different from that in the games.
Moral Event Horizon: You can tell Tac is no longer an ally when he almost dooms Pop Star, and possibly the entire Milky Way Galaxy, by nearly selling the Star Rod to a pawn shop on Aqualiss. He even knew what the Star Rod was, and that Pop Star was in peril, but he chose to let Pop Star suffer for money. Thank God Chuchu and Gooey arrived just in time.
The way Nightmare perishes (for the first time) when Meta Knight defeats him with Galaxia.
"Nightmare let loose a long wailing scream. A black blood-like substance gushed from his mouth. Each of his hands melted. His shoulder plates and necklace exploded. His face cracked and shattered. His cloak set on fire and burned to ashes. The shimmering spike of energy got smaller and smaller around the sword before disappearing altogether. Finally, only his horns were left on the ground, but as the wind blew, they disintegrated and the dust was swept away."
