YMMV / The Daltons

Go To

  • Adaptational Displacement: Many fans watched this series without knowing the original source material. As a result, however, it boosted the Dalton brothers' popularity and fame of the Lucky Luke franchise.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Jack and William. While a big portion of the fanbase praised the idea of telling them apart, as Jack became a Street Smart while William regained his Book Smart trait, other fans think they're still interchangeable as they've often been in the original series, due to them still acting like more rational Co-Dragons to Joe and seldom getting the main spotlight.
  • Common Knowledge: People often remember the heights of the Brothers being onwards proportional to their age and their degree of intelligence. While they do have some admirable qualities associated with different types of intelligence, Joe is sometimes seen making some ludicrous mistakes.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The animated series, although not very popular overall, had an extraordinary success in Italy. How much? 1) K2, the channel that first aired the series on Italian TV, used to rerun the series very often (at certain times covering half of the programming of the TV station) and 2) the series, in addition to children, attracted many female fans, creating a Periphery Demographic. 99% of the fanfics on the series are in Italian, and so are 99% of the artists drawing fanarts of the series on DeviantArt. As of 2018, however, the Daltonmania (maybe due to the series being shoved into the very-late-at-night timeslot and due to backlash because of infinite reruns) seems to have died down, with the fandom being stagnant.
  • Unpopular Popular Character: The Daltons are a quartet of ruthless outlaws who get constantly picked on by everyone, especially Pete and Emmett because of their constant failure while trying to escape, however they're often considered as the most likable and sympathetic due to their comedic traits.
