YMMV / The Crown S 6 E 4 Aftermath

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: After her death, Diana appears as a ghost (or hallucination, or... whatever) to both Charles and Elizabeth. And Dodi appears to his dad. Such an oddly fantastical break from the series' usual grounded tone is surprising (especially since the show most certainly did not go there with other important deaths on the show, like those of George VI and Lord Mountbatten), and was met with derision in some quarters.
  • Narm: 'Ghost Diana' also counts as this, not just for the reasons outlined above but because it serves as a heavy-handed manifestation of Elizabeth and Charles's unresolved tensions with Diana (she even thanks the latter for crying in the hospital), and as a cheap way of giving them closure following her death.
    Ghost Diana: Ta-da!
  • Tough Act to Follow: As well as the above, this episode and the ones preceding it also struggle because they're overshadowed by The Queen, also written by Peter Morgan, which covers exactly the same historical period and events.
