- Designated Villain: Dragonweed and his gang don't really do anything evil and seem content to live in Thistledown, and while they don't invite the Charmkins to parties, they never get invited to parties. Even their kidnapping attempt is done by proxy via the river, and Dragonweed's first villain song is about how much he likes living in the swamp.
- Unintentionally Sympathetic: No reason is given why Dragonweed and his gang are disliked by the Charmkins and never invited to parties, and Dragonweed's genuine praise of Lady Slipper's dancing can make him easy to sympathize with.
