• Alternative Character Interpretation:
  • Some fans consider Damien to be a very sexy individual with hidden goodness in him, while others take a less sympathetic view.
  • Additionally, some fans think Chloe's unapologetic mind-reading crosses a line, while others think she has ample reason to do it.
    • Mini-episode 9 says Chloe feels the same way sometimes.
• Bizarro Episode: Episode 50 - Rose which is not only a musical episode, but takes place in the characters' dreams.
• Draco in Leather Pants: As mentioned above, Damien, to the extent that this is an actual FAQ on the show's official tumblr:
  Q: I think Damien’s voice is really sexy. Do other people think this too?
  A: Yes, they do. You’re welcome to send me a message about it, but trust me, I get a lot of those kinds of messages. You’re not alone.
• Fanon: Although none of the character's races are specified (outside of Frank mentioning that his grandfather was in an all-black infantry regiment), it is very common for fan art to depict Joan and Mark as East Asian.
• What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: A criticism of some US listeners of the first Bright Sides episode, as both Myra and Joan express disapproval towards both the current state of health care and ease of access to guns. However, these topics are not quite so controversial outside of the US. It should be noted that this episode was written by Julia Morizawa, not Lauren Shippen like it usually is.
• The Woobie: It can be hard to think of a character that does not qualify as one of these.
