YMMV / The Bridgerton Series

Go To

  • Base-Breaking Character:
    • Every character has their fair share of fans and haters, and if you ask people their favourite and least favourite, you will get a different answer every time.
    • Phillip Crane is a specific example of a character a lot of people disagree on. Is he a misunderstood botanist trying his best despite his Dark and Troubled Past, or a neglectful father who stifles Eloise?
  • Growing the Beard: Most readers believe that the last three books (When He Was Wicked, It's In His Kiss and On the Way to the Wedding) are the best in the series, as they're less formulaic than the earlier entries and the questionable sex dynamics present in the early books were either minimized or gone completely.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: An Offer From A Gentleman was published in 2001, and features a couple named Benedict and Sophie. November 5, 2014, Benedict Cumberbatch announced his engagement to Sophie Hunter. Quinn joked about this on her Facebook page.
  • The Scrappy: Daphne tends to be disliked by fans for her Double Standard Rape: Female on Male actions in The Duke And I.
  • Signature Scene: A negative example from The Duke and I. Any time the books come up, expect at least one warning and/or complaint about Daphne's rape of Simon, or "That Scene", as it's often known. People hate it, to the point that even the most die-hard fans often tell new readers to skip Daphne's book altogether.
