- Some of the gags about Raoul and his encounters with British racism are even funnier after bigotry against Eastern European people became a significant issue in Britain in the 2000s, following EU enlargement and large-scale migration from that area.
- Ginda always, coincidentally, looked like a caricature of Anne Widdecombe. In the Distant Finale, she is a cabinet minister (although for Labour rather than the Conservatives, due to who was in power when it was written).
