• Awesome Music: Mark Isham's haunting, industrial-esque score is one of the composer's greatest works, perfectly capturing the inevitable doom that awaits the ill-fated tank crew.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • The opening attack. Imagine going about your normal morning routine. Out of nowhere, foreign tanks shell your neighborhood from afar. Next, they come close & blast your homes to bits. Finally, the crews exit and continue to attack the REMAINS of your neighborhood with handheld weapons.
  • The T-55 crew lost to a Molotov. Especially their muffled, final yells in agony before an internal explosion silences them for good. Can count as Tear Jerker too.
  • The way the Soviets avenge the former. Running the villager over with the tank. And not as if they see him and turn the tank to run him over at combat speed as a means of engaging an enemy combatant in a firefight. Nope, they stick this wounded prisoner in front of the track and tell Koverchenko to drive forward, in first gear, no less. Depending on the film version; you can see the poor bastard's feet get crushed by the track. As this happens, we're treated to see Daskal stoically stare on & ride along as if he's on a kiddie ride.
