• Award Snub: It received six Academy Award nominations and won five, but it wasn't nominated for Best Picture or Director.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Harry Pebbel has some shades of Roger Corman, but Harry would definitely be an Expy of Roger if this was made today. Depending on the director, he might even be played by Roger.
• Values Dissonance: Despite the film's attempts to rationalize it, little if any of Jonathan's behavior would be considered acceptable today, when stories of directors and producers abusing people under their purview are more frowned upon. His initial interaction with Georgia, where he harrasses her in her own apartment, refuses to leave despite her repeated ordering him to do so and telling her to say everything is fine when a neighbor comes to check can read as particularly creepy to a modern audience that has experienced the Me Too movement.
