- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: There's a scene where Germaine strips naked and gets into Baby's crib with him... for some reason. It doesn't add anything to the plot, and it's the only instance of Incest Subtext in the whole movie. It was probably added to further establish the Wadsworths as a Big, Screwed-Up Family, but it just ends up being out of place with the rest of the movie.
- Narm: Most of the scenes with Baby end up being very narmy. But when you have a grown man acting like a baby and using a voice that's obviously too high to be his own, that's to be expected.
- Nightmare Fuel: In spite of (and even, in some ways, because of) the campy tone, the premise is horrifying.
- The Woobie: Baby. Due to the fact that his family actively prevents him from developing beyond infancy, he never really had a chance.
