• Alternative Character Interpretation:
  • Was Jane an actual witch caught in Salem or was she an innocent girl who, through the brutal ritual and torture, became what the people accused her of? As such, was she Evil All Along or a Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds who became evil due to what was done to her? Tommy thinks the latter, but that's predicated on his assumption that there was no such thing as a witch - something that's an unfounded assumption in-universe.
  • Tommy offers himself as a human sacrifice to Jane, asking that she torture him as she was tortured so that his son would be spared. She seems to take Tommy up on his offer, but then obviously reneges by also killing Austin. Did Jane kill Austin because she had no intention of honoring Tommy's "deal", or did Jane only do so because she thought Tommy didn't pay his dues - i.e. Austin put Tommy out of his misery with a Mercy Kill, thus not allowing him to experience the same ordeal that she did.
• Just Here for Godzilla: Whoever did marketing for the movie, made sure people will pay to see some body.
• Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Jane, if the in-universe theory that she was an innocent girl punished for witchcraft is true.
