• The Un-Twist: As admitted in the author's notes, when Hermione spends several chapters frantically searching for any magical being born in the British Isles on the same day as Tom Riddle, surprisingly few readers fell for the Red Herring implication that such a creature would be needed as part of the ritual, instead correctly guessing that the ritual would kill all magical beings born that day, and thus Hermione was hoping not to find any.
