YMMV / The Andy Griffith Show S 5 E 17 Goober Takes A Car Apart

• Fridge Logic: It is inexcusable that Andy, the town’s seemingly Only Sane Man, would pull a gun on his friend (and sometimes trusted deputy) Goober — even if he were perturbed (as admittedly he should have been) that a car was in the courthouse — and demand it’s immediate removal. You’d think it should never have escalated this far in the first place. To wit: When Gilly Walker complains about Goober not properly fixing his car and Goober defends his work and that Gilly’s abusing the car and reckless driving were the causes, why Andy didn’t back up Goober is puzzling. (His mind on the North Carolina State Sheriff’s Convention, Andy didn’t want to get involved in a private dispute.) Indeed, why Andy — just before leaving — didn’t chew out Gilly over his driving habits, impound his car and tell him it will not be worked on until after he (Andy) returns from the convention so Goober could focus on his deputy work, and then tell him (Gilly) in no uncertain terms that if he is caught driving recklessly again he will lose his license and have the car seized from him ... that is beyond crazy.
