• Fan-Preferred Couple: Many science fiction fans like to, often jokingly, pair up Lt. Colonel Manning with a woman his size in the form of Nancy Archer.
• Memetic Mutation: "What sin could a man commit in a single lifetime..."
• Older Than They Think: In recent times, some have accused Glenn's accident of being a ripoff of the origin story of the Hulk — who in actual fact didn't make his debut until five years after The Amazing Colossal Man was released.
• Took the Bad Film Seriously: Whenever someone offers genuine praise for this film, it's typically regarding Glenn Langan's intense performance as the title character.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: Although dated today, the effects used to enlarge Glenn are pretty impressive for the time, and still manage to hold up at times. His half-skull face in the sequel is also still legitimately disturbing.
• Wangst: To be fair, Glenn does have legitimate reasons to be upset, but his angst crosses the line into Narm frequently.
