  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Is Nicholas Flamel a Nice Guy who's Blessed with Suck or is he a Jerkass who is deceiving the whole wizarding world into thinking there's a finite amount of Philosopher's Stones you can make?
  • Broken Base: The overt politicking, especially in early years. It's bizarre to watch eleven year olds act like shrewd politicians, though diminished by the fact that they are being guided by more experienced adults.
  • Cliché Storm: Some Fandom-Specific Plot(s) like "Ancient and Noble Houses", wards, super!Harrynote  are present. Also the fact that Hermione's parents are called Daniel and Emma. Ironically, the author's FFN bio calls out super!Harry as one of his Pet Peeve Tropes.
  • Funny Moments: When Harry is accused of having impregnated Mrs. Norris, one of his reasons for not doing so is, "The day my only option is a cat is the day Voldemort waltzes down Diagon Alley in a ballerina's tutu!"
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • One of the first signs that Frank and Alice Longbottom are responding to the muggle treatments for their Cruciatus-induced dementia is that Alice keeps cuddling up with Frank in the same bed. This is normally against St. Mungo's procedure, but the staff allows it, both to encourage the two healing, and because the two are a married couple anyway.
    • The first definitive sign of recovery is Alice recognizing Neville during one of his and Augusta's visits.
  • Moment of Awesome: As a sign of defiance against Voldemort, Frank Longbottom attends the first meeting of the new Order of the Phoenix, despite his language difficulties, just to flip off Voldemort.
  • Trapped by Mountain Lions: Certain subplots, like Harry and Hermione's attempts at inventing a new wizarding sport, can feel like little more than wasteful filler.
