YMMV / The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena

• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The most common criticism of this book. The cover promises a yeti rampaging in California, but not only does not come close to happening until the third act but it's focused more on magic snow than anything else.
• Unintentionally Sympathetic: Nicole. While she is kind of the Insufferable Genius type, it seems she's like this mainly just due to having No Social Skills rather than deliberately being arrogant/obnoxious, as such, Jordan's dislike of her seems rather harsh. At one point he even admits (not to her face) he wishes she was never born. He also lets her fall into their compost heap and get covered in slime just because he was annoyed with her at the time.
• The Woobie: The Abominable Snowman himself, surprisingly. Despite being built up as a ferocious beast, he appears more curious than hostile and doesn't hurt Jordan and Nicole. Then he's kidnapped from his home by the siblings' idiot father and taken to the very hot and unfriendly city of Pasadena, California. It's hard not to feel sorry for him in the book's ending as he howls in confusion and fear and runs away to desperately get back home.
