• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: "Five in the Nave," a bizarro acid jazz number anchored by Mike Roe's best Jimmy Durante impression.
• Covered Up: An odd example. Pray Naked contains two covers of songs by the obscure band The Strawmen ("Phony Eyes" and "Deep End"). That band featured Mark Harmon and David Leonhardt, the bassist and guitarist of the 77s, with Harmon's brother Bill on vocals; the 77s versions use the same musical tracks, adding Roe's vocals and guitar over the top. Most fans prefer the new versions.
• Dead Horse Genre: At Lost Dogs shows, Terry Taylor and Gene Eugene were fond of making fun of Roe for his other band's "boogie woogie music."
• Epic Riff: The ominous bass line to "Pearls Before Swine."
  • The big bass riff that leads off "Look."
• Signature Song: Mike Roe has probably played “The Lust, the Flesh, the Eyes, and the Pride of Life” at every concert he’s played since 1987.
