• Accidental Innuendo: The very title of the film has likely elicited at least a few snickers by now, especially from non-French speakers unaware that the original title, which the English title is directly translated from, is derived from the idiom "faire les quatre cents coups", meaning "to raise hell".
• Award Snub: It received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay, but it wasn't nominated for Best Foreign Language film. France's entry that year was Black Orpheus, which was the winner.
