  • Demonic Spiders:
    • The Razor-4 in the Moon Dagger. While not as fast as your craft, they're quite maneuverable and especially nasty are their ion-burst guns in any difficulty but easy as a hit will remove a quarter of your shields, having one of the most devastating attacks of the game. If that's not enough from normal difficulty onwards enemies keep respawning, so if you do not kill them fast you can suffer a lot.
    • The Hydrosleds from Centauri III. While their laser beams are weak, only killing you in 15-20 shots, they are fast-firing and nearly unavoidable, and considering there is always more than one sled it quickly becomes a Bullet Hell. It doesn't help that you start the level without any of your previous weapons to strafe around them and kill them quickly. After the first mission, however, they either shoot at the ground or in your opposite direction which make the rest of the missions a breeze.
    • From the same mission, the C-Nomes in a tunnel. While simply harmless walking robots elsewhere, on this particular tunnel, they act like Hydrosleds and often create a Bullet Hell, made worse by the limited movement allowed inside tunnels. However, a few face and shoot at the wrong direction instead of you unlike all other tunnel enemies do.
    • The ATAB artillery from Ceres Asteroid. There are always four of them close together guarding the Shield Towers, and like the Hydrosleds above, they will drain your ship's health quickly. To make matters worse, the Shield Towers have ridiculously large hurtboxes that will block your projectiles from hitting them, but won’t block their projectiles from hitting you.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight/ Life Imitates Art: Sort of. Ymir, a "harsh, forbidded world" ice planet, orbits Barnard's star. In 2018, a planet circling it was discovered even if the Real Life counterpart is thought to be still colder.
