The previous game forced you to play your characters in the order of their roster slots, and the hero was locked into the 4th slot. Servants of God allows you to play your characters in any order you want by clicking on them during battles and the hero can be put in any slot, giving more control over your party's movement during battle.
Using an elemental shield on a character that already has an elemental resistance will replace the previous resistance for the battle. In the previous game, characters with a passive elemental resistance aren't affected by Grotius's Frost Shield, making this skill useless for most of the party.
