YMMV / Tazz

  • Badass Decay At one point in time, Tazz was considered to be one of the toughest, most brutal wrestlers to ever step foot in ECW, making his triumphant debut in the then-WWF by giving Kurt Angle his first ever loss. Very soon, however, his badass decay began when he began feuding with the announcers, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. After that was over, he quickly became a glorified jobber to the stars. Though he did make a small comeback later on by winning the tag team titles with Spike Dudley, it was a little too late by then. After losing the tag team titles, he stopped wrestling and joined the announce team with Michael Cole. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin mentioned in interviews that his talking down to Tazz wasn't right, but Tazz's decline was otherwise justified in that he did have a jacked-up neck that was getting worse over the years; after all he was part of the original ECW.
Paul Heyman: Look at Tazz! Look at Tazz! This man was a killer! He was a machine! He was a wrestler! A great wrestler! He was a man, and now he's a fat, little, obnoxious color commentator! And not even a good one!
  • Follow the Leader: Turned tapping out into a staple of professional wrestling. It had been done before but it was much more common for wrestlers to verbally submit. After Tazz, pretty much everyone was tapping out and verbal submissions all but disappeared outside of "I Quit" matches, especially after a certain incident involving a phantom submission made it necessary to have an unambiguous way to confirm that a wrestler actually submitted. Which didn't stop some people from screaming "Ask Him".
  • Heartwarming Moments: Getting to call the debut match of his son Hook on AEW Rampage, a short but impressive victory over Fuego Del Sol with the crowd fully behind him. You can hear the pride in Taz's voice.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The reason the extra "Z" was added to Tazz's name when he debuted in WWE was due to the company wanting to avoid lawsuits from what is now known today as Warner Bros. Discovery. Today, he works as a commentator for All Elite Wrestling, a company whose flagship programs airs on TNT and TBS, channels owned by WBD, and his name has since been reverted back to being spelled with one "Z."
  • Memetic Mutation: Thanks to Botchamania:
    Howard Finkel: Weighing 248lbs...TAAAAAAAZZ!
    Jim Ross: IT'S TAZZ!
  • Suspiciously Similar Song:
    • In the later days of ECW, he began using a knockoff of KISS's "War Machine" for his entrance. This theme reappeared in the WWECW revival.
    • Inverted later on, as WWE's theme song for The Shield, "Special Op", was this to his first WWF theme.
