- Archive Panic: 1,187 episodes and counting.
- Awesome Music:
- The main theme by Klaus Doldinger. This is probably the reason it has gone unchanged since the time the series first aired - it's just that awesome.
- The Schimanski episodes Miriam and Das Mädchen auf der Treppenote both feature original scores by Tangerine Dream. As always, TD delivers on both episodes, with the standout being the gorgeous remix of "White Eagle" that appears in the latter episode.
- Best Known for the Fanservice: Reifezeugnis (1977), a Kommissar Finke episode directed by Wolfgang Petersen set at a high school, was a breakout part for the young Nastassja Kinski. Of course what tends to be remembered most is her nude scenes. She was 16 at the time which was not seen as a big deal in Germany at the time.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Rainer (or Reiner) von der Steuerfahndung from Tatort Saarbrücken. Despite only being mentioned once by Leo in Das fleißige Lieschen, he has become an in-joke among the fandom and appeared in fanfictions.
- Fan Nickname: Spatort for Tatort Saarbrücken. A portmanteau of Spaten (German for Spade) and Tatort, due to Leo saving Adam from his abusive father by hitting the latter with a spade.
- Harsher in Hindsight: Fashion designer Rudolph Mooshammer appeared in two Tatort episodes, once as himself and once as a man who sold titles of nobility. In real life he became the victim of a murder in 2005.
- LGBT Fanbase: Tatort Saarbrücken due to the many Ho Yay moments Adam and Leo have.
- Retroactive Recognition: Pretty regular since Tatort serves as a career stepping stone for many aspiring German actors — if they're popular today, there's a pretty good chance that one of their early roles was in a Tatort episode and gained them attention. On this wiki alone, it includes the likes of Jürgen Prochnow, Katja Riemann, Sebastian Koch, Florian Lukas, Alexandra Maria Lara, Katharina Schüttler, Matthias Schweighöfer, Volker Bruch, Sibel Kekilli, Liv Lisa Fries, Leonie Benesch and many others.
- Claus Theo Gärtner and Günter Strack had several roles in Tatort in The '70s before they became the leads of rival Detective Drama A Case for Two.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The series is Serious Business in Germany and discussing/bashing the newest episode is a popular sport almost on par with football. So prepare for a lot of this whenever a Tatort director tries something daring. Up to eleven, naturally, since the appearance of social media - their participators and the critics in the feature pages seem to be of opposite opinion all the time, to state it neutrally.
