YMMV / Tales From The Tour Bus

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Of the many recurring storytellers, Levi Ruffin is frequently touted as a fan favorite due to his uniquely profane method of recounting stories.
    • The Jones Boys (Don, Gary, and Arnie Adams), for playing off each other in a brotherly way, getting in some great one-liners, and having been featured in multiple episodes for knowing both George Jones and Johnny Paycheck.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • After Tammy Wynette and George Jones get divorced, some of George's Loony Fans begin harassing her, which eventually culminates in her house being firebombed.
    • From the Rick James episode, what starts as an amusing story of Rick and his band getting into a bar fight with some racists in the Deep South takes a dark turn when the town sheriff arrives and warns them the men they just fought with got an angry mob together and are coming back. The band quickly gets on their bus and makes a run for it, but it's very clear that if they hadn't gotten out in time, there's a good chance they could have ended up getting killed.
  • Squick: Jerry Lee Lewis marrying his 13-year-old cousin.
  • Tearjerker: Any episode that ends with the subject's death tends to be this.
    • Special mention should go to Blaze Foley’s death, as unlike most of the other musicians dying of old age or health issues, he was shot while defending a friend of his, an elderly man whose son frequently beat him and took his Social Security checks.
    • Morris Day's story of the last time he saw Prince before the latter's death. He tears up himself as he's telling it. That said, the two were finally able to bury the hatchet, making it a Heartwarming Moment as well.
    • The fact many of the story tellers and subjects passed in short order since the show ended. In a short span of time since the show's last episode in 2018, Billy Joe Shaver (2020), Jerry Lee Lewis (2022) and Betty Davis (2022) all passed.
