YMMV / Tales from the Hood 2

Go To

  • Anvilicious: The themes of racism and sexual misconduct are essential lessons that have the subtlety of a sledgehammer fired out of a cannon put on top of a bulldozer.
    • "The Sacrifice" pulls no punches when it comes to the political issues black people face in The New '10s.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: "Good Golly" ends with Aubrey having sex with a giant version of the Golliwog and eventually suffering Death by Childbirth as its spawn are of the Chest Burster variety.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Most will agree that it is the worst movie in the trilogy, but plenty of viewers enjoy Keith David's performance as Mr. Simms, even if he doesn't have the best material to work with.
  • Memetic Mutation: Keith David's Large Ham delivery of "WELCOME TO HELL, MOTHERFUCKER!"
  • Narm: It is difficult to take the giant Golliwog seriously when he looks like Huggy Wuggy in blackface.
  • Sequelitis: The film is generally regarded as inferior to the original, thanks to repeatedly stopping the plot for on-the-nose and extremely Anvilicious social commentary that the previous film was able to balance alongside it's humor and horror. Sacrificing the charm, entertainment and nuance of the previous film for the sake of its lessons.
  • Tearjerker: "The Sacrifice" ends with Emmett Till's brutal lynching, which is reflected by the Councilman's sacrifice alongside him in an alternate timeline.
