- Epileptic Trees: Just what Barrett had that led to his eventual decline mentally has always been debated by fans and music historians. The biggest theory (that all the Floyd members agree with) is he simply overdosed on acid and never recovered, with schizophrenia being something he could have had as well. Arguments about whether he was autistic or bipolar have been debated as well, although Barrett's own family always argued he didn't have any mental issues. A smaller argument by fans is he was actually lucid the entire time and did all the crazy things to escape from the spotlight he'd gotten so tired of.
- Memetic Mutation: His infamous (and arguably never recorded) song "Have You Got It Yet?" is a minor one due to its legendary status and story over it.
- Once Original, Now Common: As with Jimi Hendrix, Syd Barrett pioneered so many modern rock guitar techniques that his guitar work can sound a bit clichéd to modern listeners. His habit of singing in his natural English accent was also copied by British punk rockers who followed him.
