- Accidental Innuendo: The number of people who correctly guess that the movie's title refers to the swing music revival of the mid-90s and not polyamory on the first try is probably in the single digits.
- Director Displacement: Jon Favreau wrote and starred in the film, and then went on to direct a number of other films, but it was Doug Liman who actually directed it. Favreau did direct the film's Creator-Driven Successor Made.
- Funny Moments: The scene where Mike suddenly shows off his amazing swing-dancing skills to everyone's surprise, Trent and Sue watch in stunned silence. By the end of the scene Trent is in tears, looking like a proud parent at a graduation.
- Memetic Mutation:
- "Always double-down on 11."
- Referring to things of good quality as being "money" became a very brief fad after the film.
- The exclamation "Vegas, baby!" still gets used by some people when referencing trips to the city.
- Unintentional Period Piece: The film is set against the very niche, very short-lived subculture of the mid- to late-90s swing music revival.
