- Fridge Brilliance:
- May or may not have been intentional, but still: In the first film, Mayor Perkins casually mentions that his wife deserted him and their daughter Prudence. In the second film, the town boarding house is run by a woman of approximately the appropriate age named Mrs. Perkins.
- Also, Joe's pride at helping install the bars in the window of his jail cell, and doing it well enough that they successfully resist an attempt at ripping them out; it comes across as an example of his stupidity, but it's probably the first useful and productive thing he's ever done in his entire life.
- Genius Bonus: Prudence is way ahead of the curve, employing Suffragette protest tactics decades ahead of the mainstream: "Little trick she has, tyin' herself to things when she doesn't want to do something."
