- Awesome Music: Considering the band had barely a clue what they were doing during the Lemonade And Brownies era, "Mean Machine" and its Epic Riff is a hell of a stab at Hardcore Punk.
- Even Mark will admit the big four of Sugar Ray's singles are as follows: "Fly," "Every Morning," "Someday" and "When It's Over." Warning: contains intense 90s vibes.
- Broken Base: Heavy rap-rock band turned summery pop band. Can't imagine anyone having a problem with that.
- Funny Moments: When you pop in the CD or begin streaming the album 14:59, You get... this opening track.
- OK boys and girls, We're gonna listen to things for you to do, To make yourself a better person. So just listen: grrrrrarrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
Be nice to your sister! Talk to your grandmother! Paint pretty pictures! (cough cough) Don't play ball in the house! Don't run with scissors! Be nice to cops!- The song fades out and we get to "Every Morning", and the tone of the album stays that way.
- OK boys and girls, We're gonna listen to things for you to do, To make yourself a better person. So just listen: grrrrrarrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
- Harsher in Hindsight: In the liner notes of their first album, there is a picture with each of the band members with their names and roles listed as "Liar", "Traitor", "Sellout", and "Cheat." Considering the animosity between the band's members later on, as well as the band's radical shift in sound after achieving pop success, these labels might not be looked on with as much amusement as they were originally intended.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: The punk rock hit-and-run "Cash" (from Floored) is already funny on account of being so one-dimensional, but a song about how badly they need cash becomes doubly funny for their detractors, who called them sellouts in the wake of their Genre Shift.
- I Am Not Shazam: Mark's band is called Sugar Ray, not Mark himself.
- Misattributed Song: That was actually One-Hit Wonder band Citizen King who did "Better Days (And The Bottom Drops Out)," not Sugar Ray.
- Narm: "Shot Of Laughter," the bonus track from their Best Of, starts out with the chant of "summer, summer, endless summer," as if they wanted to make sure you knew what sort of vibe they're aiming for.
- Narm Charm: "Fly" has lyrics alternating between commonplace and sudden sadness, but the bouncy tune and earnest delivery make it really work.
- Older Than They Think: Even before the band's early years on Atlantic Records, the band were formerly called Shrinky Dinx and had been together since the late 80s.
- Signature Song: Either "Fly", "Someday" or "Every Morning;" take your pick.
- Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Floored went double platinum and met better critical success than the underachieving Lemonade And Brownies.
