• Harsher in Hindsight: The opening song refers to ‘if you break your neck in some damned fool wreck’. Years later, one of the actual racers who makes appearances in the move, Dale Earnhardt, would do exactly that, with fatal results.
• Special Effects Failure: It is clear during the crash scenes that the movie has been replaced with archive footage of real-life stock racing crashes, some of which take place on tracks that don't even match their current location. Justified in that attempting to stage anything more than Stroker's "naked chicken" spin-out could not be done at the time; no stunt driver would be safe in the kinds of crashes you find in NASCAR, and there is just no way of staging a convincing accident without someone behind the wheel to cause it.
