• Harsher in Hindsight: The story revolves around the backwater island of Shimojijima housing a Meteor Sweeper intercept squadron, which is ostensibly an air force base specifically designed for meteor interception. From 2013 onwards, there have been talks of transforming the real life civilian airport that is the base for the Shimojijima base in the anime to a Japan Air Self-Defense Force base due to increasing tensions with Japan's neighbors. Obviously, the locals aren't really pleased about the possibility of housing JASDF in their home island.
• Les Yay: Apparently. It's how the virus is transmitted.
• Nightmare Fuel: Somewhere past mid-season of Season 1, especially where Karin tries to infect Mikaze.
• Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Some fans argue that the Advance series are better than the original.
