- Awesome Art: Grotesque as it can be, most viewers agree that the hand-drawn animation of the first video is awesome. It's so smooth and mesmerizing to watch.
- Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory: Some viewers have theorized that the first video has a deeper meaning. Some people interpret the father as representing God and the son as representing all of humanity. It helps that the father looks a bit like the typical Grandpa God, and that he mentions at one point that the son goes to Sunday school. Other viewers interpret the video as having a political meaning, such as it being a representation of the Cold War.
- Heartwarming Moments: The ending of the first video. The son learns to respect the spider's life, the father is proud of his son, and the spider gets to go free.
- Sequelitis: South America is much less well-received than the first video, with viewers citing its grotesque Flash animation that lacks the charm of the original's hand drawn animation, and the lack of a good moral in favor of nothing but randomness and Black Comedy.
- Squick: Quite a few things, such as the father being in only his underwear.
