  • Memetic Mutation: From "I Didn't Like Gay People", the line "I quickly became homophobic; hating on gay people became part of my lifestyle" has been subjected to countless parodies, whether by assigning the quote to a homophobe or replacing gay people with another group.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
  • Unintentional Period Piece: In I Started Smoking Cigarettes, Cameron turns 18 and bought himself a pack of cigarettes since he was now the legal age to do so. 2 years after the video was posted, the age limit was bumped up to 21.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: In "I Didn't Like Gay People", Karim beating up his gay childhood friend after he admits having feelings for him is meant to be seen as wrong. However, some commenters point out that his friend kept on touching him in ways that made him uncomfortable, even after being asked to stop several times, which can be seen as sexual assault. While Karim's bigoted motivation for the beating, and how disproportionately severe it was stop this from coming across as Informed Wrongness, certain viewers felt that a certain degree of retaliation would have been acceptable.
  • The Woobie: Most of the videos are about stories of trauma and hardships, so these are a dime a dozen.
    • Reshma from "I Survived Depression - My Journey Back To A Happy Life". She lost her loving father, who also was her best friend, and her life started to go downhill. Her self-esteem and will to live went down; the people around her only made it worse. This makes her second start in life and the newfound happiness that much more awesome.
    • Tony from "I Was Homeless". He was mercilessly bullied and beaten up by his two sisters, got homeless after his uncle got an eviction notice, and was assaulted by muggers one night. You can even hear him sobbing as he tells this story. Thankfully, he finds a good home at Covenant House.
    • Louis from "I Didn't Feel Safe at Home or in School". He's a middle child who was either too old or too young to join in on his sibling's activities. Not to mention that, after his parents got divorced, his mom ended up getting married to a horrible man who physically abused Louis and his brother for minor reasons such as not taking the trash out. And that's just his home life. His school life, on the other hand, is just as bad as all the kids would bully and pick on Louis for having low self-esteem and being a loner. Generally speaking, that video isn't called "I Didn't Feel Safe at Home or in School" for nothing.
    • Poppy from "16 and Pregnant". She was forced into having sex with Aiden against her will and got disowned by her parents after finding out she was pregnant. Fortunately, she is happy with her young daughter and is currently catching up on her life.
    • Kim from "I've Never Told Anyone This Story". She was raped by an authority figure when she was ten-years-old, when she didn't even know what was going on — only that it was something bad. You can hear the pain in her voice throughout the video, especially when she outright dispels any semi-hopeful doubts you may have had by saying, "He raped me."
