• Complete Monster: Knygathin Zhaum, from "Shadows in the Ice", is an intelligent, billion-year-old Voormi with a tendency to Rape, Pillage, and Burn. Zhaum was a plague upon the ancient city of Commoriom who, after a sadistic game he played with the city's executioner Athammaus, devoured the entire city and plunged its entire populace into screaming agony for 10 billion continuous years as it slept in the Antarctic cold. Zhaum later makes a deal with the wicked necromancer Nathaire to come astride on the Earth and glut itself upon the cities of the modern world, to fill the shrieking chorus within it and become as powerful as it can.
• Funny Moments:
  • It's extremely dark comedy, but Y'golonac's sullenness toward Helen Valentine's lack of faithfulness toward him is an amusingly immature moment from the otherwise fearsome Great Old One.
  • Jeanne's adoration for the penguins the expedition party finds, as well as her cheerfully declaring they're like Hardestadt (much to Hardestadt's consternation).
• Nightmare Fuel: The true secret of Commoriom from Shadows of the Ice. The lost city was lost for very good reason—it's the resting ground of an Eldritch Abomination sealed within the city whose kept Commoriom's screaming population within him for billions of years.
