YMMV / Stephen's Sausage Roll

Go To

  • Friendly Fandoms: The game shares much of its fanbase with Baba is You, due to both being hard-as-balls block puzzles that emphasize thinking outside the box.
  • Surprise Difficulty: The game's cutesy graphics and lighthearted premise ("You grill giant sausages!") can lead some people to buy the game thinking they are going to be playing a simple puzzle game, when in fact there is an extreme level of difficulty that can quickly leave players wanting to Face Desk.
  • That One Level: "The Great Tower" is commonly cited as one, as it is the first interaction players are given with verticality in the game (aside from using a sausage to bridge from World 1 to World 2, which doesn't introduce much except riding rolling sausages and potentially losing your fork if you're determined to poke around), and no explicit instructions are given on how the physics of stacked sausages work, let alone how to get them into a place where they can be grilled within the puzzle, leaving many players with no clue of where to even begin.
    • It seems that every world has one puzzle that stands out as particularly confusing and liable to get players stuck. World 2 has The Great Tower; World 3 has Cold Frustration; World 4 has Wretch's Retreat; World 5 has Crater; World 6 has Ancient Dam. All of these build on mechanics that are introduced earlier in their worlds, but add new twists to the mechanics that can be hard to spot.
