YMMV / Static-X

Go To

  • Covered Up: "December" was originally done by Deep Blue Dream, a band that Wayne Static and Ken Jay used to be in.
  • Epileptic Trees: It's commonly believed that "Xer0" is no other than Edsel Dope of the band Dope, in particular due to similar vocal style and the neck tattoos both individuals have. Dope denied any connections before eventually confirming the rumour to be true.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: With a bit of Hilarious in Hindsight. In the DVD tie-in to Shadow Zone, Wayne told the band's story up to now, then goes full-on Deadpan Snarker by saying that after their tours in support of their latest album, Tony will leave the band then reform Static-X with Koichi and Ken, while Wayne has his own band named Static-X featuring Wayne Static, then engage in legal battles over the name and get a reunion tour afterwards. That's more or less what happened. Really, the only wrench in this was Wayne's own death.
  • He Really Can Act: Xer0 left fans spellbound by his talent at imitating Wayne.
  • Never Live It Down: Tripp getting arrested for sleeping with minors. Unlike with, say, Lostprophets, Static-X managed to bounce back, though Wayne said he did believe that Tripp's actions hurt the band's career a bit on his AMA.
  • Signature Song: "Push It" and "I'm With Stupid". For Need for Speed fans, "The Only" and "Skinnyman".
