YMMV / Stasis: Bone Totem

Go To

  • Even Better Sequel: At least from the gameplay side, Stasis: Blood Totem is considered a significant improvement over the previous entry due to having more quality of life features and having arguably less Moon Logic Puzzles given that the player is controlling three different protagonists with each of their own skills. From a narrative side too the plot is also considered more engaging since it revolves around a family who lost their daughter bouncing off each other rather than the single protagonist Trauma Conga Line the previous game had.
  • Funny Moments: There are some character interactions between the protagonists that can be quite amusing, like the Running Gag of Moses reprimanding Mac whenever he curses.
    • When Moses reprograms a sentry turret to shoot open a locked door there is this hilarious exchange.
    Moses: I opened a door.
Mac: A door? What did you use, dynamite?
Moses: Guns are not toys, Mac.
Mac: He has a gun now?!
  • Nightmare Fuel: Much like the previous games in the series, Bone Totem too has plenty of Body Horror due to the preveilance of bio-tech in the setting. However unlike the previous games Bone Totem also throws in Lovecraftian horror by revealing that the oil rig was built to study a ruin of a long lost ancient civilization who practiced Human Sacrifices on such a mass scale they put the Aztecs to shame. In addition said civilization isn't completely wiped out and those that remain desire nothing more than to return to the surface and purge it of life.
  • Tear Jerker: Whenever the protagonists bring up Hope they do so with grief. Like how Mac makes it all but clear to Moses that he blames him for her death, something that Moses himself privately agrees with, or Moses confiding in Charlie if it is bad to wish to stop missing Hope, to which she assures him there is nothing wrong with that.
  • Uncanny Valley: Moses. Yes he is supposed to be a toy bear but his face has a lot of disturbingly human-like features, which considering like much in this setting he was likely constructed with "products" this comparison is well founded.
