YMMV / Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures

Go To

  • Angst? What Angst?: Kai has a joyful reunion with Bell Zettifar during the Season 1 finale, "The Pirate and the Prince". However, that episode ends with the Starlight Beacon dedication ceremony, which also takes place at the end of Light of the Jedi, confirming that Bell has just come off the heels of witnessing his master Loden Greatstorm (whom Kai also met) get captured by the Nihil and the rest of the Order presuming that Loden died. While it's understandable that the show wouldn't go into detail about this given its pre-school demographic, the lack of acknowledgement may be jarring to those familiar with the publishing side of The High Republic, especially since Loden is visibly absent during that episode while every other Jedi the main cast met throughout the season is present.
  • Common Knowledge: Despite a plethora of memes suggesting so, the series is not set shortly before Order 66. It actually takes place during the High Republic, around two centuries before Order 66 was enacted. It also is not set in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant... although it starts there; but on Tenoo, a new planet created for the show.
  • Discredited Meme: As much as you'll see the inaccurate Order 66 meme spreading, you'll also see people absolutely sick of it. A combination of it being driven into the ground, being entirely incorrect factually, and the fact that people are joking about killing younglings has put it into distaste to many.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Before the series released, it became common to joke that the last episode of the series would feature Anakin killing the main characters in Order 66, riding off of the already popular meme of him killing younglings. Despite the show being set hundreds of years before that happens in Revenge of the Sith, the joke still became popular due to the Mood Whiplash such a scene would provide with the rest of the series. It's so common that if you took a shot every time someone in a comments section used it, you'd be drunk within less than fifteen minutes and on your way to the ER if you went at it for much longer.
    • "Loden is so cool! I hope nothing bad happens to him."Explanation
    • Another joke involves Star Wars fans saying they are going to binge this show in the same vein as The Clone Wars or The Mandalorian for its “complex lore”.
  • Moe: All the kid characters are absolutely adorable.
  • Periphery Demographic: Despite skewing to the youngest age bracket of the franchise so far, the series has picked up an audience with the older Star Wars fandom, who find the series as a cute reprieve for the brand, especially High Republic readers who've been seeing the books and comics get progressively darker.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • While the first half of the first season focused on characters that (aside from Yoda) hadn't been seen in other stories, the reveal that characters from the High Republic books and comics (Loden Greatstorm, Bell Zettifar, Ember, and Estala Maru) would be showing up caught quite a few people off-guard.
    • While the above characters were advertised before episodes were released, what wasn't advertised was that the villains of "An Adventure with Yoda" would be Nihil.
