YMMV / Star Wars: Ahsoka

Go To

For the Ahsoka live-action series, see here.

  • Broken Base: Ahsoka being vaguely bisexual. Some fans love the idea especially given the majority of Ahsoka's favored ships were with girls, others though felt it was a cheap add-on that did nothing for the plot or character, and there is some middle ground in those who like that Ahsoka may be bisexual, but felt the author didn't do anything with the implication.
  • Continuity Lockout: The prologue assumes you have watched all of The Clone Wars and to a lesser extent Rebels to understand what's going on. Also, if you aren't aware that The Clone Wars was supposed to end with the Siege of Mandalore, you might be confused as to why Ahsoka has seemingly returned back to the frontlines on Mandalore of all places. This is somewhat helped with The Clone Wars release of a seventh season 4 years after the book released, but makes the series even more required watching
  • Just Here for Godzilla:
    • There are some who were interested in the book mainly due to the brief glimpse it provides for the Siege of Mandalore.
    • There's also the audiobook that many have gotten because it's narrated by Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka.
  • LGBT Fanbase: Ahsoka had a significant sapphic fanbase even before the book came out, and with Kaeden explicitly having a crush on her and Ahsoka's feelings towards her in return, those fans are rejoicing. To put a measurement on how big her gay fandom is, a Twitter poll of Star Wars’s most popular ships had sapphic ship Kaesoka reach #4 with over 54,000 votes, passing even widely publicized ships like Han/Leia, Han/Luke, Finn/Poe, and Reylo.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • Ahsoka fights an Inquisitor never-before-seen-in-Rebels, the Sixth Brother. His presence was particularly surprising since no one expected at least six Inquisitors to be active a year after the rise of the Empire. The Grand Inquisitor shows up at the end of the novel as well.
    • Likewise, no one expected there to be an interlude chapter about Obi-Wan on Tatooine in an attempt to become one with the Force.
  • The Woobie: Ahsoka was already one after the events of The Clone Wars, but she's become a bigger one after losing all of her friends after the execution of Order 66, and has no one to connect to anymore as she's in hiding.
