• Anvilicious: Alexana Devos' dialogue frequently consists of ham-fisted, pithy propaganda about the evils of terrorism.
  "In a world where children blow up children, everyone's a threat."
• Harsher in Hindsight: The monitors in Officer Devos' office show the slightly modified images of Earth cities, including a building that looks similar to the twin towers in New York. A little on the nose for an episode about terrorism, wouldn't you say?
• What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: The Federation's involvement in trade with the Rutian government in spite of it being an authoritarian police state is reminiscent of Realpolitik relations forged by the United States with various fascist and other authoritarian nation states for the sake of national interests.
