  • Genius Bonus:
    • One of Pelia's "Artifacts" is "The Concert" by Johannes Vermeer. It's a painting that was stolen in 1990 from a museum in Boston (and not the Louvre as the episode claims) and remains missing to this day. It's estimated to be the most valuable single object currently stolen.
    • Toronto is frequently used as California Doubling for New York City, making Kirk's confusion both a shout-out and a bit of Fridge Brilliance: Since he grew up in space and has barely seen Earth outside of movies, there's no reason he wouldn't fall for it.
    • The episode title comes from the same play as the TOS episode "All Our Yesterdays," and both episodes are Time Travel stories.

  • Ghost Shipping: Multiple fanfics pairing La'an and alternative timeline Kirk already exist. And the episode itself could be considered Ship Tease for regular timeline Kirk and La'an, given he asked her out for a drink during their brief interaction at the end.
  • Spiritual Successor: The episode has a similar narrative, albeit in a different permutation as TOS's "The City on The Edge of Forever."
    • The plot appears to be an inversion of Gene Roddenberry's idea of having the crew travel back in time to ensure the Kennedy assassination takes place.
  • Unexpected Character: While the Previously on… contains a number of quotes about genetics, they all look like they're referring to La'an, who "Ad Astra Per Aspera" established was an Augment. Khan (Desmond Sivan) isn't hinted at or referred to until he shows up in the last ten minutes of the episode.
