• Fridge Brilliance: Trip says he wouldn't know where to start to repair the hatchery, even though he's had no problem repairing ships from halfway across the quadrant. It's likely this was an attempt by him to disguise his Fantastic Racism, since he is the last person who would want to show mercy and leniency to the Xindi, even if they aren't born yet or have nothing to do with the attack.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Some have suggested the episode would be stronger without the "Archer was being influenced to protect the hatchery;" this would have slotted quite nicely in with Star Trek's themes of respecting unfamiliar life and overcoming biases.
• Ugly Cute: The baby Insectoid-Xindi.
