- Values Resonance: The Klingons justify themselves attacking Laas for being "menacing." It's almost impossible to hear this and not think of any one of countless controversial cases of people killing other people because they "felt threatened." The issue of self-defense, particularly in relation to "stand your ground laws," has become a much bigger political issue in the United States since the episode aired.
