• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Sisko is unnecessarily shitty to Quark in an episode in which he's otherwise portrayed as sympathetic. He self-righteously and incorrectly accuses Quark of purchasing a child, ignoring Quark's truthful protests that he had no idea. When Quark objects to the rest of his property being summarily seized by Starfleet, Sisko only shoots him a Death Glare. You'd think if it were anyone else, he'd be more professional and assure them that their property rights would be respected once the investigation was complete.
• Woobie Species: Previously just portrayed as Always Chaotic Evil, the Jem'Hadar get explored more in this episode and are revealed as a Henchmen Race that the Founders have tampered with to the point that even a Jem'Hadar who's never had contact with the Dominion feels an instinctive subservience to changelings and an insatiable need to fight and kill. And they're addicted from birth to a substance that only the Founders can provide for good measure.
