• Ensemble Dark Horse: Soarin', who despite his brief moments of screentime in the first story stole the show each time he spoke.
  • Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle and Moondancer are a more conventional example (or, examples in this case). Despite having bit parts in only the first story, they're getting their own spin-off.
• Iron Woobie: Thunderlane, who goes through so much abuse day after day and receives No Sympathy from almost everyone. Yet, he'll go about his business with little objection.
  • Doctor, who is hinted at being that Doctor.
• Jerkass Woobie: Blueblood, after his backstory is revealed.
• Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Red Hope used to be disliked, for being just another one of ponies who tried and failed to date Twilight Sparkle. Few spotlight chapters later, fans actually started rooting for him, especially after becoming Platonic Life-Partners with Moondancer.
• The Scrappy: The author seems to view Thunderlane as one, often saying he's among the hardest to write for.
  • This is no longer the case since his massive Character Development in his own story.
