Designated Hero: ARCAM is depicted as a hero, despite going after countries for trying to excavate OOPArts for their secret agenda. Many a reader do wonder if it's a good idea to depict this despite the Cold War setting due to the anti-Western story arcs.

Bowman then fights Yu before getting defeating after a grueling battle, admitting on how proud he is of Yu before embracing his death.

Broken Base: Readers are unconfortable with the idea that Hitler is depicted as a good guy, especially for those who have family/friends who were persecuted during World War II and afterwards due to having Jewish ancestry. Others will point out that there have been genuine debates on whether Hitler has disorders, including personality disorders.
Harsher in Hindsight: Garnum's plans to make Japan into a nation with a similar military power to the US (and to an extent, the UK) will not stand well with persons who are against remilitarizing Japan, which happened after then Prime Minister Abe allowed for an interpretation of Article 9 in 2016 to modernize the Japanese Self-Defense Forces (JSDF). While China and the Koreas (to an extent, some parts of Southeast Asia) and pacifist groups have criticized this due to violating the spirit of Article 9, the US/Canada, Europe, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and India have welcomed this.
