Fanon Discontinuity: Both episodes are not very popular. "Penny Foolish" because of Mr. Krabs going overboard with his cheapness. "Nautical Novice" mainly because of the Cruel Twist Ending and SpongeBob being annoying in the first half.

Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The chase scene with SpongeBob’s brain comes rather unexpectedly and has nothing to do with the plot of the episode.
Funny Moments: While many people don't like this episode, some of them do admit that there a few funny moments:
Mr. Krabs chattering like a dolphin while driving.
An attempt of borrowing a penny is to put on a slide show about coins. SpongeBob would offer Mr. Krabs one...if he had one.
Mr. Krabs then retracts his eyes into his shell to scream in frustration.
Nautical Novice
Ass Pull: The revelation that the boat was being tugged by the museum owner the entire time was nonsensical since there was no indication that someone else was controlling it other than Spongebob (how do you explain the reverse 720 tailspin?) It's like the writers needed some last minute excuse to keep Spongebob from finally earning his license.
